Spring ‘08 Semester

Spring semester has begun.  I’ve already finished a course for “Doing business in Chile” where we visited the country and studied and reviewed several businesses.  The country was beautiful and I’d recommend it to anyone.  The semester schedule is as follow:

Supply Chain Concepts

Essentials of Negotiation

Market Driven Strategy

Integrated Marketing

Career Management

By the end if I pass them all I should have a total of 18 hours under my belt.  Of course I have a regular job and a family to take care of at the same time, but I know I need to finish this sooner than later.  I’ll post updates throughout.  So far theprofessors have seemed exceptional so I’m hoping I don’t get “Schneibled” this time.

Semester 1 update and closeout

Well the final tally for the first semester was:

Financial Accounting: A

Managing People: A-

Managerial Accounting: B-

Yep, despite all the hard work I received a B-.  I’ve inquired how I received a B- but the professor refuses to respond.  In retrospect I guess I shouldn’t have disagreed with him so much.  Ah well live and learn.  The Managerial Accounting class wasn’t worth the $1265 it cost and anything I learned I learned from looking up the terms on the internet.  So far TCU is 2 for 3 in classes for value.

Oh and so you don’t think it was just me, several in our class reported the professor to the Dean.  I was not one of them but instead decided to talk with him one on  one as I thought he deserved the respect, too bad he won’t return it to me.  Oh and I learned a new phrase after we returned this semester.  Now the people in my class are using a term called “Schneibled”, as in, “Don’t get schneibled buying that car.”  *laughs* I guess the students find a way to vent some how.

MBA Semester 1

Well the first semester in the TCU Neeley School of Business MBA program is about to come to a close.  I was able to pull an A in Financial accounting and I’m waiting to hear back on Managing people.  Financial accounting has been a bear and I take the final tomorrow.  So I guess we’ll see.

It’s been a bit crazy.  First of all I broke both my wrists and just got the bracers off yesterday.  This has led to some interesting issues, but I made it through just fine.  Still a little pain, but getting better.  Financial accounting hasn’t gone well.  I kept asking for help but my professor always told me to just learn everything and I’d be fine.  Problem is I never found out where to start and often found myself starting in the middle without understanding the basics.

As for TiptonEnterprises I discovered the current web template for laptopsforschool won’t work, so I’m paying another company to redesign it.  My last web designer suggested I change dates to control how content displays.  This would have meant strange dates appearing with each laptop post.  *sighs* Live and learn, should have gotten it done right the first time.  I’m hoping to get it up and running in time for the school year in Fall 2008.

Anyway, that’s it for now.  I’ll post my other two grades when I find out.  I really want to do well tomorrow on my last exam for the semester.

What’s going on with Tipton Enterprises?

So what’s going on with Tipton Enterprises? Is something I bet my 2-3 readers is currently wondering. The answer is not much. Both Guardiandomains.com and laptopsforschool.com are in place and ready to go. Laptops still needs the content to be loaded up. Both are ready to go once I start School at TCU in the MBA
program. I want to apply what I learn to my own business. I hope also this will become in a way a resource for new MBA Students.

I just got through going through my accounting prerequisites. I had no idea there was so much to accounting. I feel ashamed at the way I handled my business expenses. I just had handled it like my checkbook (Which I constantly watch and balance). Needless to say it has opened a whole new world to me and I’m looking forward to exploring it. I’m beginning my intro class on August 10th.

Welcome
